2. What is the Value Proposition of the Company – What makes them unique or successful?
A value proposition can be defined as a business or marketing statement that summarizes why a consumer should buy a product or use a service. This statement should convince a potential consumer that one particular product or service will add more value or better solve a problem than other similar offerings. Although Avon is known for their familiar value proposition and slogan “Beauty for a Purpose” Avon’s company website lists their company’s values and principals as well as the below statement that adds to their value proposition.
“This is the company that puts mascara on lashes and food on tables. That fights wrinkles with one hand and breast cancer with the other. That knows the value of a perfect lip, but still opens its mouth and speaks out against domestic violence and for women's financial independence. This is the company that not only brings beauty to doors, but also opens them. The company that supports 6 million Representatives worlwide. This is Avon. The company that for 130 years has stood for beauty, innovation, optimism and, above all, for women.”
The company is also launching an employee value proposition campaign, “Inspiring Work. Empowering Women,” intended to bring the Beauty for a Purpose slogan to their Associates worldwide. The campaign will bring engagement by reinforcing Avon’s commitment to providing employees with fulfilling and purposeful work.
